Q: Do I need to go to my dealer to upgrade my navigation system?
A: Only if you want to waste your money. However, some models of the BMW, which only have arrows for direction, can only be upgraded to full maps via an upgrade from the dealer. If you can see a map, you should be ok.
Q: What is the difference between an upgrade and a map upgrade?
A: The upgrades are for the firmware of the navigation system. These are upgraded to allow for better working navigation system. In some cases, it will add better graphics, faster navigating, fix bugs, allow for larger data, etc.
Q: How is easy is to to upgrade?
A: Very easy, if you follow the instructions. Some navigations just lets you put the map disc in, and does everything for you
Q: I used to have postcode search, before I updated my maps, now it is replaced with TMC.
A: For the BM Mk3 navigation devices, the postcode search has been taken off, to be replaced with TMC, which is Traffic Monitor Control. The reason for this, is because the Mk3 can only accept CDs, which cannot store as much information as a DVD navigation drive, which can accept dual layered discs that store up to 9 gigabytes of information, which is over 12 more than a CD.
Q: Can i watch T.V while driving ?
A: It is only illegal to be watching the TV while YOU drive. We advice you to unlock your TV for passengers only.
Q: What if the upgrade purchased from bmwnavigation.com does not work?
A: A full refund will be sent back to you.

Hi, I have a 2006 Roadster M, the Nav CD with the car is a 06-2 Road Map Europe High. The system has never been updated. Although I have only used the system once I think its only arrows. Where do I go from here ? Excuse the pun ! if I have to go to a dealer any ideas on price. Regards. G.

I have an E60 out of 2004, with Business nav (DVD).
Some new DVD’s don’t seem to work becasue they are dual layer. Can a firmware update fix this? Do I have to go to the dealer for this? Can I also switch to full maps (instead of just arrows on my 6.5″ screen?

Hi, I have a 2007 bmw 320d touring, and i think it has the ccc system in it, as i was able to access the hidden menu using the youtube link you added earlier. In this menu I found a date May 2008 (So not sure if that is the latest update??)
But my question is, if I was to purchase option 1 of your nav dvd package, would there be any extra benefits (speed cams, poi’s…)? Or is it just an updated map?
Also, my nav has the smaller 6.5″ screen only…
Help on this would be appreciated.
